Dear Mom, We love you and we thank you for the lessons of service and empathy you instilled in all of us -- your five remaining children, seven grandchildren, and first great-grandchild. We also thank God for giving us time together in your final days. To reminesce with you, laugh with you, sing to you and hear you and your sisters, Virginia and Mary Lou, tell stories of your Minnesota childhood. Strength, gentleness, faith and quiet resolve sustained your heart and spirit to the very end of your 91 years. Know that your beloved son, John; your devoted husband of 54 years, Robert; your brother, Sonny; and your parents, Nell and Carl Oscar Flagstad, await your arrival. And know that your friends at Seattle's Remington Inn where you blossomed into your own true self the past 15 years will miss your presence as the "elder" resident. All of us await your first piano recital on the keyboards of heaven. Your loving children.
