Dear Family of Margaret Guthrie, dear readers! On behalf of the Executive Board of the European Society for Phenylketonuria, and of all patients affected by PKU and allied disorders, I condole with the Family upon the loss of Margaret Guthrie. It is uncertain if Robert Guthrie ever could work so successful to establish Newborn Screening throughout the world without her selfless support at home. We and all the others who have been screend early enough to avoid any handicap or even death from any disease, owe so much to both of them. We shall never forget. Tobias S.
